Guilty From Beyond The Grave (c) 2006
Mid book Scene…
The air in the bathroom began to feel heavy. It was as if someone had turned the room into a sauna except the temperature plummeted.
She hoped the guys weren’t the cause of energy changes because she would make them suffer if they were pulling a joke on her.
“I hope this isn’t another repeat of last night,” she whispered. “What is it with spirits showing themselves to me in bathrooms?”
She listened to the sound of the plastic curtain give way.
“What the hell?”
It was now or never, so she turned and faced her fear. Her eyes absorbed the sight of hand imprints attempting to pierce the shower curtain to grab her. With her teeth chattering, and fear flowing throughout her body, she approached the shower curtain.
Maybe it’s just your imagination, Sydney.
A gust of wind forced the window in the bathroom open. Glass shrapnel flew through the small bathroom embedding itself in her legs and arms. She tried to cover herself as the window shattered, but she only managed to cover her face.
He stood there staring at her. His face showed his true will, malicious intent. The spectral vampire had found a way to find her.
Before she understood what was happening, he took the shard of glass and stabbed it deep into his thigh. Blood poured from the wound as he withdrew the wet glass.
The chilled air numbed her, preventing her from feeling her arms or legs. She couldn’t find the warmth necessary to keep her heart beating. She struggled for breath as she wondered what was happening. The ghost approached her and reached his bloody hand toward her. His eyes pleaded with her to grab his hand.
“Come to me, I can show you the true path. I can make you powerful, so you shall never fear again. I can make your dreams come true, Envisioner. I, am the all powerful one, unite your power with mine and we can accomplish together what one can’t alone.” His voice sounded tranquil.
What the hell are you doing? Don’t let him do this to you, he is lying to you. It’s a trick, you can survive. Fight. Her conscious begged her.
If she accepted his hand, his offer, she would accept the darkness. She slowly reached her hand toward the spirit, allowing him to think she was going to accept his offer. Maybe then he would leave her alone. Her plan could buy her some time so she could figure out how to defeat him. Just when he was about to grab her hand, she felt a small jolt of energy leave his finger tips and enter her. Empowering energy prevented her from passing out. Using what little strength she had left, she jerked her hand away from the spirit.
“Never!”
“Have it your way, Envisioner. Don’t think you’re safe from me. You will favor my path and join me, or I will hand you over to the Underworld and collect the bounty.” he hissed.
“What do you mean by bounty?” she asked innocently.
A curve formed across his mouth.
“Do not be coy with me, Sydney Foster. I have seen the bounty mark.”
***
Internal laughter roared through the ghost. He was surprised the Envisioner didn’t realize he knew she had a bounty on her. She was the talk of the Otherworld. A female Master Envisioner presented power, unlimited power way beyond his. It was obvious by her lack of control she had just matured into her power.
He had been blessed when he saw her mark. Even though she had weakened him and pushed him into submission the previous night. He had her where he wanted her. He was in control and would fight her until she weakened, then he would suppress her psychic defenses and control her.
She had no idea what he could offer her. If they united power, he could gain control of one of the dimensional gateways in the Otherworld, making him a Gatekeeper of immeasurable power and status. He craved power and status and if it hadn’t been for the woman a century ago he would have had all he desired.
He laughed again, enjoying torturing
CHAPTER NINE
An evil grin spread across his lips as he withdrew the glass weapon. A chill ran down her spine as she watched him. His expression convinced her he was enjoying himself.
Oh God. What is happening?
She had to know if she was in reality or an illusion, so she turned and examined herself in the mirror. Her suspicions were validated, she was facing reality. There was nothing artificial about her neck with a huge piece of splintered glass sticking out of it. Cherry colored rivers of blood were swiftly flowing down her neck. Shit.
Oh God. Oh God. What am I going to do?
Her wound looked exactly like the wound on the neck of the spectral vampire. Sharp pain in her thigh tore her thoughts from her neck to her leg. She glanced down to discover her thigh also mirrored the spirit’s wound. She watched the spectral vampire as he lifted the glass to his arm and punctured it.
“God above help me, he’s using me as a poppet.” she whispered
“You have been targeted and warned. Welcome to my world, Envisioner. Welcome to hell.” His voice was nothing more than an evil hiss.
Panic ruled

I like it a lot and it makes me very curious about the rest of the story. i like the parallel of the wounds both of them have - it makes a connection which again makes the scene more intense and more creepy…
i wonder if she doesn’t feel any pain in her neck since the wound sounds very severe? i just realized it’s not mentioned, that’s why - but since i don’t know the whole story and don’t know about her *abilities* i’m not sure.
